Proclaiming the Unexpected Savior Day 1

Day 1: Understanding Our True Need

Paul's approach to sharing the Gospel demonstrates the importance of meeting people where they are and understanding their perspectives before sharing faith. Many miss Jesus because they're seeking external solutions to internal problems, expecting Him to be a moral teacher, life coach, or political figure. The true Jesus offers something far greater - liberation from sin, reconciliation with God, and heart transformation. Understanding others' worldviews while being willing to surrender our own preferred version of Jesus is crucial for authentic faith sharing.

Devotional

We often look for solutions in all the wrong places. Like someone trying to fix a leaky roof by repainting the walls, we focus on external problems while ignoring the real issue within. We seek better jobs, relationships, or circumstances, believing these will fulfill us. But these are temporary fixes for a deeper need. Just as a doctor must correctly diagnose an illness before treating it, we must recognize our true spiritual condition before finding real healing. Our greatest need isn't external change - it's internal transformation through Jesus Christ.

"it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person."
- Matthew 15:11

What external solutions have you been pursuing, hoping they would bring fulfillment? How might recognizing your deeper spiritual need change your perspective?

The truth is that none of these things will satisfy our deepest need.
Just like Israel, our biggest problem is not out there. It's in here. It's in here.

Prayer

Lord, help me to look beyond surface-level solutions and recognize my need for You. Give me the courage to face my inner struggles and the wisdom to seek You first. Amen.
