Proclaiming the Unexpected Savior Day 2
Day 2: Letting Go of Our Expectations
Paul's approach to sharing the Gospel demonstrates the importance of meeting people where they are and understanding their perspectives before sharing faith. Many miss Jesus because they're seeking external solutions to internal problems, expecting Him to be a moral teacher, life coach, or political figure. The true Jesus offers something far greater - liberation from sin, reconciliation with God, and heart transformation. Understanding others' worldviews while being willing to surrender our own preferred version of Jesus is crucial for authentic faith sharing.

We all come to Jesus with preconceived notions. Some expect a cosmic vending machine, others a stern judge, and still others a political ally. These expectations can become barriers that prevent us from experiencing Jesus as He truly is. Like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, we sometimes try to make Jesus fit our preferences rather than accepting Him as He is. True transformation begins when we surrender our expectations and allow Jesus to reveal Himself to us in His way, not ours.
Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.”
- John 18:36
What expectations of Jesus have you been holding onto that might be preventing you from experiencing Him fully?
You must let go of the Savior you want if you're ever going to receive the Savior you need.

Prayer
Jesus, help me release my preconceptions about who You should be. Give me an open heart to receive You as You are, not as I want You to be. Amen.
