The Church on a Mission Day 2

Day 2: Worship That Transforms

The church in Antioch set a powerful precedent as the first congregation to intentionally send missionaries. Their effectiveness stemmed from three key priorities: being grounded in God's Word, maintaining God-centered worship, and demonstrating dependence through prayer and fasting. These foundations enabled them to understand God's character, align with His purposes, and trust His direction. Their willingness to send their best leaders sparked a movement that transformed the ancient world and continues to influence global missions today.

Devotional

True worship goes beyond singing songs or attending services - it's about what captures our heart's deepest affections. When we truly worship God, we begin to reflect His character and priorities. Think about it: we naturally imitate what we admire most. If we worship a God who seeks and saves the lost, won't our lives begin to mirror that same pursuit? This was evident in the Antioch church, where their worship led them to action. Their example challenges us to examine what truly holds our heart's attention and how that shapes our daily choices and priorities.

"Those who make them become like them; so do all who trust in them." - Psalm 115:8

Reflection Question

What does your use of time, resources, and energy reveal about what you truly worship?

You become like what you worship
and you worship what you delight in the most.
Whatever it is that your heart delights in the most,
that's what you worship.
— Pastor Mike Mura

Prayer

Father, help me to worship You with my whole heart. Transform my desires to align with Yours, and let my life reflect Your mission to seek and save the lost. Amen.
